Summer Break 2026

Just because I was off, doesn’t mean I was “off”.

TLDR;

Wedding, Work & Fantasy Wonderland!

Summer Break Time!

From the end of April, we started our Summer holidays. Granted we were sent off with some work to complete, it was time to sit back and recover from the past academic year.

Or so I thought. Instead, we were run off our feet with family events, weddings and a whole lot of personal drama to deal with. Oh, and I started working again so goodbye free time!!

But I figured I’d share a little bit about what I’ve been up to, as well as the end results of the summer work.

Starting off with…

I got married! sort of

Because of the whole student thing, planning and funding a full wedding would have been a logistical and financial nightmare. Modern weddings start at the £5k mark and only rise. We wanted to get married before I graduated university but it was becoming more and more unlikely. That being said, my parents recommended a way we could do both, have the big party while also getting the legal marriage stuff done in time.

We decided to split our Wedding in two. A small registry ceremony and trip to the pub this year, and then a full reception & blessing on our 1 year anniversary with the rest of the families. This meant we didn’t have all the “wedding tax” thrown on top of everything.

It was an amazing evening, spending it with my siblings, closest friends and the love of my life. I am now an Officially Married Woman and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Have a look!!

So yeah, that’s a thing we did. We’re now in full Party Planning mode, you may see some of that over the next year.

Summer Project

We were simply instructed to create something, work on our photography and try and get ourselves out there.

For me, this was a challenge as I’m both a recluse and had a LOT of events coming up. However, thanks to some close friends and a business owner who loves free labour, I managed to come up with a plan.

Create something new, something I’d never done before and never really saw myself doing. Then, create something I know, touch base with something I wasn’t afraid to do, I knew how to do.

Something New – Advertising

During the summer, I ended up back working. This time, for an Escape Room and LaserTag Arena as one of their Party Hosts. I absolutely adore this job. Everyday is just a massive game of “Yes, and?”.

As I got to know everyone and everything, I noticed that the advertising photographs were outdated and, to be honest, quite bad… I spoke with the owner and offered my services to update them. We started small, focusing on one experience, then move onto the others.

By the time University started up again, I’d only completed one of the Escape Rooms, with the others still being edited. Unfortunately, it means I cannot share them on here yet. Soon, my friends…soon…

Something I Knew – Fantasy Forest Libertalia

Yep. I went to the Ren Faire! It was so much fun! I’ve done conventions, events, even motorbike rallies before but never a Ren Faire.

It was like stepping into a whole new realm!

I’ve started posting the photographs on Instagram so you’re able to see them easily.

Seeing the improvement from a few years ago was such a heartwarming moment. Knowing that I’m actually improving, taking into account the new techniques and skills I’m learning. It brings such a buzz, I can’t quite explain it.

Long but not Long Enough

We had a whole heap of family events, small trip and everything else in between going on during the summer break. These were just the major ones that prioritised photography.

I went to Spain for a week, We visited family in Lincolnshire & Bristol, we went off to Skegness for my birthday. We had two family weddings, multiple get-togethers and Mine, Ed’s & Koda’s birthdays.

We took photo’s but we didn’t “Take Photographs”, if you can see what I’m putting down.

That being said, Onto Second Year, I guess!

Love you loads! ❤

Rosie
